Invest in a “smart” controller.  Your licensed irrigation contractor can install it for you for only a few hundred dollars.

It will be programmed to monitor weather conditions, soil types, sun or shade, slope, types of plants and local watering restrictions.

Water savings can be up to 50 percent, while plant health and vigor is maintained.
